The historic town of Hollister, which virtually adjoins Branson, holds its 10th Annual Grape & Fall Festival Saturday, September 27. It's a homemade, hometown event that attracts thousands of visitors with craft booths, food, a classic car show, music, and plenty of humor. The highlight is the Annual Grape Stomp Saturday at noon, in which costumed teams stomp grapes to compete for prizes.
Other features of the Grape and Fall Festival: the Children's Activity Tent with fun-filled games, prizes and activities; the Entertainment Stage featuring live entertainment from area stars; 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament; the arts and crafts booths with authentic Ozarks crafts; and the Food Court
The event is open from 10 am to 9 pm. Admission is FREE.

To coincide with the National POW/MIA Day, David Lomascola of Branson's Lomascola Million Dollar Piano Show hosts a special show at 8 pm on September 23, 2008. Former POW Charles Crandall of Forsyth, a Navy veteran, will be honored, as will all veterans, POW and MIA in attendance.
Pastor Mark Shorey of Tri-Lakes Church will deliver the invocation for the event, which is open to the public.
Tickets to the special show are $10 (plus tax) for Area Residents. Veterans outside the Tri-Lakes area, $14 (plus tax). General admission is $28 (plus tax). For reservations and information contact the Branson Star Theatre box office at 417-335-5397

David Lomascola, of Branson's Lomascola Million Dollar Piano Show, will sing "God Bless America" during a ceremony following a Silent March at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008. This is an event to honor and remember former prisoners of war (POWs) and missing in action (MIAs).
The march begins at the Whelchel Funeral Chapel parking lot, 310 S. Commercial, and will proceed down Commercial to Main St. taking Main St. down to the Town Square at the Branson Landing.

More than 150 crafters exhibit their work during the 35th Annual Autumn Daze Arts & Crafts Festival in Downtown Branson on September 18 - 21, 2008.
Crafters and artists from all over the Midwest will participate. The show is sponsored by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association to celebrate heritage crafts and the culture of arts and crafts, the skills of individuals who want to keep the traditions of the past alive.
Shoppers will find a wide variety of items including wood crafts, quilts and clothing, crocheted and knitted items, hats, purses and ladies accessories, toys, floral arrangements, ironwork and collectible dolls, plus many more. Food vendors are also on the site, offering tempting goodies.
Craft booths will be in two large tents, located in the center of Downtown Branson at Commercial and Atlantic streets. The show is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is free.
This is a juried craft show. Crafters seeking booth space may apply to the Downtown Branson Main Street Association. Follow this link for more information.

A custom car and rod event at Area 57, located next to Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater on Highway 76. Area 57 features 5 1/2 acres of open space with a 40 x 50 stage.

Culinary classes start September 11 and go through December 30, 2008.
During the National Harvest Festival, Silver Dollar City offers a very special project that includes culinary classes & craft seminars. National experts and SDC Master Craftsmen will feature displays, demonstrations and hands-on activities for take-home skills. Expert chefs and renowned craftsmen will share those "want-to-know" secrets and tips in culinary classes and seminars.
Classes will be held in the Culinary & Craft School, built by Silver Dollar City's own expert craftsmen. It was designed to look like a quaint, turn-of-the-century styled Midwestern farmhouse. You'll find it located opposite the Red Gold Heritage Hall. Be sure to visit the back porch - there's a sweeping view of Echo Hollow. Cool features: spectacular Kitchen Showroom with Viking appliances, flat screen TVs for overhead views and tiered seating for close-up viewing.
Classes are $10 (plus tax) per person (SDC one day admission or season pass also required); recommended for age 12 & up. Take-home recipes and gift bags with extras such as cookbooks are included in the class fee. Class length is approximately 45 minutes.

The 2008 Tour of Missouri, the world-class professional bicycle race, features 7 days of cycle racing (last year's Tour had 6 days).
Stage 1: Monday, road race from St. Joseph to Kansas City
Stage 2: Tuesday, road race from Clinton to Springfield
Stage 3: Wednesday, time trials in Branson
Stage 4: Thursday, road race from Lebanon to Rolla
Stage 5: Friday, road race from St. James to Jefferson City
Stage 6: Saturday, road race from Hermann to St. Charles
Stage 7: Saturday, circuit race in downtown St. Louis
Pack your lawn chair and watch from the roadway as the cycle racers pass.
The professional cyclists race through Branson September 10 for the third stage of the Tour of Missouri. This is one part of the 7-day, 600-mile race through Missouri inspired by the Tour de France.
Pick a spot anywhere along the route to cheer them on.
The Tour of Missouri seeks to increase awareness of the sport of cycling and promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle in Missouri.

The Branson Gas Buster Discount Card is worth $50 in discounts at participating attractions, lodging, restaurants, retail shops and shows.
Here's how to get one for yourself:
Save your Branson gas receipts totaling $40 or more dated the two days prior to arriving at the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB Welcome Centers, located at Highways 65 and 248 or at Highways 65 and 160. Hours are from 8 am to 5 pm Mondays through Saturdays and 10 am to 4 pm on Sundays.
Present your valid driver's license and your gas receipts (you get to keep the receipts) at one of the Chamber offices and you'll receive the Gas Buster Card. Then you just present the card at any of the participating businesses to receive your discount.
Branson Gas Buster Card holders will be automatically entered into a Grand Prize drawing for a 5 day/4 night Branson vacation for four. The drawing will be held at the end of the Gas Buster Card promotion on October 31, 2008.
