Each week a special celebrity judge will join the panel, such as, the legendary Roy Clark, Ronnie McDowell, Mickey Gilley, Tony Orlando, Moe Bandy, Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Merril Osmond, Jim and Ann Stafford, Pam Tillis, Buck Trent, The Hughes Brothers, Ronnie Prophet, The Brett Family, Kirby VanBurch, Steve Fairchild, Janet Ellis, The Yeary's, Tony Roi, Dalena, and others. During the show, that week's special guest judge will join Doug Gabriel on-stage in a special segment called "Up Close & Personal" to let the audience know what they are doing or give out information about their own show. The judges will then narrow the field down to two contestants and the audience will choose that week's winner and help them advance to the next level. Weekly winners will win $50 in cash and also have the opportunity to perform on two different Branson stages during their weekend in Branson: The Doug Gabriel Show and Bass Country USA live Radio show. Beginning in January, staff members from Gabriel Productions will be traveling to several different locations looking for people that have the right stuff to be considered for Branson Spotlight. Those that cannot make it to the live auditions, but are interested in competing, can also send in audition packets to the Gabriel offices in Branson.
