Country music singer and songwriter Mel Tillis (born Lonnie Melvin Tillis) has had nearly 6 dozen country hits from 1958 to 1998, including his biggest hit from 1972 "I Ain't Never." He's also written hits for other stars like Bobby Bare's 1963 chart-topper "Detroit City" and Kenny Rogers' "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town."
