Jim Reeves’ nephew, John Rex Reeves returns

Jim Reeves’ nephew, John Rex Reeves returns to ‘Gene Williams Country Television Show’

It’s traditional country music on the "Gene Williams Country Music Television Show" as the nephew of Jim Reeves, John Rex Reeves, returns as a guest star on the next broadcast of the Lucas Oil Products sponsored show taped live in Branson, Mo., and seen across the nation and in Puerto Rico.

"John Rex is a popular guest on my show. Just as my show is up-close and personal, his Branson show at the Nova Theatre is an intimate show with John Rex playing his guitar and singing Jim’s biggest hits," said Gene Williams, who is the creator, producer and star of the "Gene Williams Show."

Also on stage for this show which will be broadcast Dec. 2 and 3 (CHECK LISTINGS BELOW FOR YOUR AREA.) is Radney Pennington, Branson’s littlest Elvis.

Williams is credited with having the largest syndicated country music television show not affiliated with Nashville. He grew up listening to country music just down the road from and went to school with Johnny Cash. He pursued his dream of being in the country music business where his first job was on KWAM radio as a disk jockey. He soon moved to television and within four months had three shows and was on the air 4 1/2 hours a week. His early TV show was syndicated to over 30 markets. Today his Telly Award winning show reaches more than 23 million homes and can be seen coast-to-coast and border-to-border and in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This year the show was listed as the most popular television show in national ratings on WNGS Buffalo/Rochester, N.Y.

Williams has worked with the Johnny Cash, the Carter Family, the Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, Charlie Walker, Del Reeves, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Minnie Pearl and Kitty Wells. With a guest each week on the "Gene Williams Show," Williams’ celebrity roster is impressive. Williams’ guests have included Mickey Gilley, Doug Kershaw, Ed McMahon, the Oak Ridge Boys, Roy Clark, Barbara Fairchild, Sons of the Pioneers, the Osmonds including Jimmy Osmond, Helen Cornelius, Leona Williams, Bob Anderson, Fred Travalena, Charlie Louvin, Narvel Felts, Margo Smith, Mary Lou Turner, Cal Smith, Stonewall Jackson, Norma Jean, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson, Porter Wagoner, Jim Owen, Buck Trent, the Duttons, Johnny Lee, the Duttons, the Haygoods, Gary P. Nunn, Todd Fritch and Razzy Bailey.

Williams continues to put Branson on the map through various achievements. In 2006 he has his show listed as a favorite TV show in the March, 2006, issue of the national magazine, "Maxim;" assisted Dr. Phil and his television show by helping fulfill one of Dr. Phil’s guest’s dreams to be on Gene’s TV show as a featured country music singer; was asked to add his autograph to the limited collection of signatures on the World’s Largest Banjo, the familiar Branson landmark on the world famous 76 Strip at Grand Country Square - among the signatures are Roy Clark, Kitty Wells, Jean Shepard and the Oak Ridge Boys; and was presented an honorary doctorate degree from St. Martins College and Seminary, Milwaukee, Wis., in television and broadcast communications in recognition of his community commitment to the industry.

Williams has been honored for his contributions to the tourism industry by the Missouri Senate and the State of Arkansas. He is credited with having the largest syndicated country music television show not affiliated with Nashville and with breaking ground for country television. His television career led to the making of his motion pictures, Sound of Country Music and Country Music Jamboree. An inductee to the Memphis Music Hall of Fame and a Grand Ole Opry DJ of the Year, he was recently awarded a doctorate from St. Martin’s College and Seminary of Milwaukee, Wis., in recognition of his contributions to television and broadcast communications.

Williams’ co-host Katie Lynn has received the Branson Entertainment Awards Best Support Vocalist twice for her work in the "Mickey Gilley Show." She and the guest star perform each week with the Country Junction Band.

The next taping of the "Gene Williams Country Music Television Show" is Sunday, Dec. 10, at a new location, at the Branson Showcase Theater in side the Branson Mall. Guests for the show include New South. The show is taped live with a studio audience with free admission. Doors to the theater open at 1 p.m. For more information go to genewilliamscountry.com.
